Agent Research and Evaluation http://www.agentresearch.com/ A somewhat pricey service which provides a listing of reputable agents who represent works like yours. If you’ve got more money than time, this might be for you.
Association of Authors’ Representatives http://www.aar-online.org/mc/page.do This is a limited free database of those agents who belong to the AAR.
Literary Marketplace http://literarymarketplace.com/ A subscription service with a database that covers agents, editors, publishers, book manufacturers, wholesalers, associations, awards, etc. There is free user access, but it’s limited to company names and addresses only.
Lit Match http://www.litmatch.net/ A free source for literary agent information that allows writers to organize their search for representation and track their submissions online.
Preditors & Editors http://www.anotherealm.com/prededitors/pubagent.htm Rates agents, editors, and publishers according to ethical criteria. Check here first before submitting to any agent.
Publishers Marketplace http://www.publishersmarketplace.com/ You have to pay a monthly fee to join, but then you can search the database for the latest book deals by genre, search for agents by author or genre and see what book deals they’ve landed over the past few years. You can also search through book reviews and more
Writers Beware http://www.sfwa.org/beware/twentyworst.html In alphabetical order, this is a list of the currently active literary agencies about which Writers Beware has received the largest number of complaints over the years.
